Tory threats to Bolton Children's Centres Tory plans to cut £200 million from the Sure Start budget could lead to three Children's Centres in Bolton being shut. Sure Start Children's Centres, introduced by the Labour Government, aim to deliver the best start in life for every child by bringing together early education, childcare, health and family support. Children's Centres are right at the heart of our community so that every family has easy access to high-quality integrated services. But now they are under threat. The Tories should come clean and tell the people of Bolton which Children's Centres they want to close. I have asked the Tories for a guarantee that no Children's Centres in Bolton will close. They have not given me that guarantee. The people of Bolton deserve to be told the truth about Tory cuts. And the Tories should know that I will fight to make sure they won't ever get the chance to put this brilliant service for young families at risk. |
